Day Fifty: 9/30/13

Today was kind of sporadic. C had a venue in Oakland so he was in and out today.

So I didn't get a pick of my breakfast. C only had a few minutes to make it to the bus so I was cooking like crazy. I had 1/4 cup steel cut oats and bacon. One and a half cups apple cider. Yummmmmm.

Walked to Whole Foods and got back after lunchtime. Was waiting for C to get back to have lunch. Snacked on:
Fig newtons
One cup sweet potatoes

Got C some grassfed butter. Of course they were out of unsalted kerrygold so I had to get something different.

Lunch was around 3pm when C got home. One and a half sausage and peppers&onions. Half an avocado too.

Had two scoops of coco pb and a banana before class.

After class, I binged and had some dried fruit, some coco pb and a pack of fig newtons. I guess that's not as bad as I thought looking back at it.

Forcing myself to start remembering to take my creatine tomorrow. Haven't had it in a few days and I need to get back on it.

New gym tomorrow.

New gym tomorrow..

New gym tomorrow...

New gym tomorrow....

Day Forty Nine 9/29/13

Breakfast:
Bulletproof coffee!!

I don't like coffee so it was definitely something to get used to. Thought it would have more pumpkin flavor to it. C said it would if I had a sweetner in it.

Had a chocolate coconut almond kit bar while at the bart. Was feeling a little dizzy so scarfed this down. Not sure coffee fills me up. Also didn't drink all of mine so that could be why. I will probably pair mine with bacon or hard boiled eggs sometimes.

Side note: C just said that we both used the word "blazed" in our AMRAP posts. Creepy.

Back on track. Took an hour bus ride (thanks C) to Eat Real fest. Was feeling sick from probably all the crap yesterday, sunburn, and dehydration so I wasn't in a great mood.

I got a Cali Slider from MeSoHungry

C got pepperoni pizza which was superb

We both got our own pork belly streamed bun from The Chairman.

Wow those steamed buns are good. At this point I was feeling pretty sick. You can tell by the fact that I didn't get dessert. Probably some of the best desserts in San Fran and I passed them up. We also were going to take a bus but ended up taking a taxi so we didn't have to wait. We were cutting it close for getting home and showering before we had to leave to meet grandma.

Dinner: salmon with pesto on rice pilaf an mixed veggies

I ate the entire thing. It was good.

Grams, me and C. Just and Micki were there too. Great dinner. Grandma gave me a chocolate chip cookie so I ate that on the way home.

Day Forty Eight: 9/28/13

Breakfast: 9:30am
1/4 cup steel cut oats with banana chips
Small glass apple cider
Bacon

C tried to hide from the picture behind the milk. He's so tute!!

Walked to the market and Trader Joe's and carried groceries back. Killer on the back since it's all uphill.

Ate a banana when we got back which C played his game:

Okay so we walked to eat real fest in jack London square around 2:30pm. Lots of non paleo picks ahead:

From C's favorite food truck- the chairmen: pork belly bun

Chicken fried soul from soul groove

Cookie butter kustard from the frozen khusterd truck

C got Thai tea with condensed milk kustard

Didn't get anything from this tent but they had delicately handcrafted tofu

Saw this onesie at the store

Fig newtons and Hawaiian salted caramel popcorn- we got a lot of free things. The popcorn wasn't as good as I was hoping. Got enough fig newtons to last us a while.

We split the pork bun and the waffle sandwich. For dinner around 6:45pm we had:
Sausage with peppers and onions
Half an avocado
Sweet potatoes

Now I'm having a glass of apple cider. Should be all for the day.

Day Forty Seven: 9/27/13

Breakfast: 8:30am
Kiwi first
1/4 cup steel cut oats with raisins and banana chips

Banana chips are growing on me now that I know what they taste like.

Lunch: 12:45pm
Leftover crockpot pork with rice and half an avocado

Had some dried fruit and two scoops of coco pb.

Dinner: 6:30pm
Half pizza- our fav

Had half an apple cider

And then a piece of the paleo punpkin bread with paleo chocolate chips and a scoop of homemade pb ice cream.

Pretty non paleo night. Oh well. We are running out of food so we are going to get some heavy stuff from trader joes this morning to carry home. Then at least during the week I can walk and get the lighter stuff. Let's hope we can get a car within two weeks.

Day Forty Six: 9/26/13

So C had to take the bus today. So sad. Which means I wake up earlier and walk around the house talking to him while he gets ready. Makes sense, right?

Breakfast: 8:15am
Steel cut oats

These were the frozen ones I bought for C. They weren't too different from the ones I bought myself. I will be sticking to my own though because they are healthier. I'll just have to start them wayyyyy before I want them. I'd say that I would start them before taking C to the bart and let them simmer while I'm gone but now I'm going to be paranoid that I'll get in an accident and not get home before they set our place on fire. Stupid car accidents.

Lunch: 12:45pm
Salad with cukes, broccoli, carrots, chicken, apple, EVOO&balsamic vinegar
Two glasses of sweet potatoes on the side (I refilled it half way through)

I was making my lunch and two batches of sweet potatoes when mother called. Lots of Nico standing and sitting.

I'm trying to get the sweet potatoes crispy. Our oven sucks though. And it's just impossible too.

Making paleo pumpkin bread now:

It's a different recipe than the paleo pumpkin muffins I made a few weeks ago. It called for some paleo granola on top (which would have been amazing) but I don't have any. Maybe if it's really bland I'll walk down to Whole Foods tomorrow and get some. I also will be eating mine most likely with paleo chocolate chips but I didn't want to put them in the whole thing in case C wanted some. It actually smells really good right now.

After I got that in the oven, I snacked on some sunbutter and a banana. About to start up our rice in the rice cooker so it's ready when C gets home. Ugh. He has to ride the bus home. Sorry boo.

Dinner: 6:15pm
Left pork roast with rice and half an avocado

Around 7:45 I had a piece of the bread with paleo chocolate chips and a scoop of coco pb.

Day Forty Five: 9/25/13

Had to stop at Whole Foods after I dropped C off at the bart. I needed to get some shoulder roast for our crockpot dinner tonight. Someone complained that we don't have enough crockpot dinners... I do agree though. So I asked the guy for a pound of pork shoulder and he basically laughed at me. Apparently since it is so fatty a pound will only make a steak? I don't know... That's what he told me. So I got two pounds. Don't worry, I only made the whole conversation extremely awkward. Anyways, got that all prepared when I got home.

Woah!! Look how dark it is in our living room!

Breakfast at 9:30am
Yup. Organic pumpkin poptarts. They were good. Better than you're even thinking.
Some pineapple on the side too.

Lunch: 12:15pm
Mix of leftover pork and sweet potatoes
Half an avocado
Cup of broccoli
Whole peach

There are so many things we can't keep stocked in this house. One is definitely avocados. I probably eat about 7 a week alone. Then add in C. It's difficult. Wish we had unlimited money for food. That would be nice.

Had some dried fruit and two coconut larabar balls. Later I had a banana with two scoops coco pb.

Good thing I made a crockpot dinner. Didn't get home til around 7:45pm.

Dinner: 7:45pm
Pork shoulder and chicken broth
Four pink lady apples
Ginger, cinnamon, paprika, salt&pepper
Honey and garlic

Was pretty good. Going to make some rice for it tomorrow to soak up the broth. Would do it again.

Snack while waiting for challenge to start:
Warm apple cider
Pineapple

Day Forty Four: 9/24/13

Breakfast: 8:45am
Involves these items

Protein shake with creatine, sunbutter, chocolate syrup and coconut water
Banana with sunbutter

The shake was better than it usually is but I didn't put a lot of sunbutter or chocolate in because I was scared. I'll definitely add more next time. I kept the banana out to basically chase with. Protein powder just has such a strong taste to it. I'm glad I got this kind to start with but I'll have to start experimenting. I would like to find a kind that I don't have to chug down. It's good to have around though for after workouts and when I know I need some extra protein.

Had a few pieces of dried fruit after my banana.

Lunch: 12:45pm
Kind of threw things together last minute. Didn't really want a salad and was lazy because I wanted to get to the grocery store.
Chicken, sweet potatoes, peppers&onions, cukes&carrots and strawberries

Ate that concoction while my steel cut oats prepared. Who knew these things take 40 minutes to make!? Geez.

1:15pm
Organic steel cut oats wit dried bananas and a dash of organic maple syrup

The bananas were SO sweet! Didn't realize how sweet they get when dried. Yum. This will definitely make it's way into some breakfasts. Perhaps with some raisins next time too.

What the heck are these!?!?!?!

Got boo his steel cut oats freezer style to take to work. There is one with quinoa in it too that I will get him next time. It is the exact same thing but the quinoa makes the sugar and carbs go up.

Treats for boo- orangic pumpkin poptarts. Wow he is going to love these.

His spiced cider. He is going to have a tough time choosing between this and milk during fall time.

Now onto my coconut creme pie Larabars. Here are the ingredients.

Once everything is mixed, form it into a ball.

Roll it out with parchment paper

Wah-la. Larabars. I used the end scraps to make into balls. I put paleo chocolate chips in those for me.

Small coconut smoothie to use up the coconut milk I had sitting in the fridge.

Went to the gym and didnt realize I was hungry. Needless to say I was miserable. It was also the first time ever that I didn't have a snack that I could eat. I forced myself to eat a flax bar after we left.

It was actually pretty good.

Dinner: 7:45pm
Half a pork quesadilla.
Pork, black beans, cheese and half an avocado
Two strawberries
Apple cider

Finally!! Our spiced cider is back!!!!!! C is in love with it. It's actually pretty paleo friendly so I'm happy. C is getting all nostalgic with all this pumpkin out now. It was windy and leafy today too so he's all emotional. Poor boy. #itgetsbetter

Have fun at your conference! Maybe talk to us once or twice? I know you have been hating on us this month but once again #itgetsbetter.

Paleo pumpkin muffin warming up on the counter. It's my last one too. Good thing I got some pumpkin today! Probably going to do a pumpkin bread with this batch.

Paleo pumpkin muffin in bed while we watch Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
